Freedom Crossing Institute is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2019 with the aim of tracing the values of common humanity and liberty across different civilizations. FCI’s goal is to expand the horizons of each citizen, so that they can embrace other cultures, memories, and life stories and build lasting bridges of peace.
With this mission, we founded the inaugural 2020-21 Freedom Crossing Film Festival with programs of Crossing: Borders and Identity, Faith and Religion, Life and Death, and History and Memory. We celebrated the diversity of global storytelling through 16 films and documentaries, representing eight languages, eight countries, and over 16 freely practiced forms of art and religious rituals. We also hosted workshops with top thinkers and religious leaders, including some of the first female recipients of the Tibetan Buddhist doctorate (Geshema degree).
In 2021 we are presenting a new theme of freedom to keep building an open forum of dialogue: Crossing Love and Nature. We will present 5 documentaries exploring the joy as we all cross through life and the natural world. These include stories of how a child can grow with passion, love, and awareness of the earth, and of adults’ devotion to preserving nature for future generations.
